Kapolda Kantongi Name Provocateurs of Anarchistic Action at Freeport Papua Regional Police
Liputan6.com, Papua - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar deplores the anarchistic action carried out by thousands of PT Freeport Indonesia's employees and their subcontractor companies in Timika from Saturday afternoon to night.
Boy emphasized that the destruction and burning of vehicles and office facilities, both owned by PT Freeport and PT Petrosea, was a serious violation of law.
The Kapolda said that anarchist actions carried out by employees went on strike without any prior notification to the authorities. Even more unfortunate, the action involved minors and women and lasted until midnight.

"Their aim may be to ask for mediation, but the method is wrong. Such methods are certainly not justified according to law," said the former Public Relations Headquarters of the National Police Headquarters.
The attack on thousands of employees took place starting on Saturday afternoon at around 14:20 CET to the Check Point 28 security post. The mob then set fire to PT Freeport's Toyota LWB vehicles around the post.
The mass of strike employees had set up a tent right at the fork in the main road of Freeport Amamapare-Timika-Tembagapura Port. However, their action was forcibly dispersed by the authorities around 20:00 CET.
Some of the masses on motorbikes moved to Jalan Cenderawasih and then damaged PT Petrosea's office facilities. Two bus units and around 17 vehicles owned by PT Petrosea as well as employees' mess were targeted by the mass of employees on strike. (By: Liputan6.com)
